DB8000 – Silence Monitor & Backup Audio Player

Frequently Asked Questions
  • How can I access the internal storage of my Silencer and upload tracks?
    An FTP client should be used in order the internal storage of DB8000 to be entered. If you do not have one installed on your computer, we recommend the usage of FileZilla. For further information on how to configure a connection between the silencer and the FTP client refer to the next question.
    DB8000 has a built-in backup audio player. It plays tracks from SD Card storage uploaded over the FTP, in case of main audio signal loss.
    An important requirement for the MP3 Player configuration is that all MP3 files should be stored in a folder named MP3. The folder should be located in the root of the SD Card. The playlist file have to be named playlist.m3u and the file names have to be no longer than 8 symbols, followed by 3 symbols extension. For example: use track01.mp3 instead of 01_backup_track.mp3
  • How should I configure the connection between DB8000 and the FTP Client?
    In order for a connection between DB8000 and the FTP Client to be established the following setting should be applied:
    1. IP Router and Port Translation Settings
    If your internet connection is going through a Network address translation (NAT) router or a firewall, the port forwarding feature of the router should be configured.
    The port forwarding can be set in the firewall section from the router's menu. As each router has a different port forwarding procedure, we recommend you to refer to its complete manual.
    To allow specific types of data flow through the router, the following ports should be open.
    • FTP Command Port - 21 (default value);
    • FTP Data Port - 2020 (default value).
    NOTE: If the FTP ports are different than the default ones, the same port values should be used in the port forwarding feature configuration.

    2. FTP Server Settings
    The FTP Server works in Passive mode and it is necessary a Wide Area Network address to be specified.
    • Using the navigational buttons find the 7.FTP Server Settings sub-menu and press OK to enter it;
    • Using UP and DOWN buttons move the cursor and select the parameter to be edited;
    • Press the OK button again and the editing field will start start to blink;
    • Enter the needed values using the UP and DOWN keys. To move between the parameter's fields use the LEFT or RIGHT keys;
    • Press OK to confirm the selection;
    • Exit the Sub-menu.
    NOTE: The WAN IP Address might also be changed through the DEVA Device manager.
    If DB8000 is connected to the same LAN as the computer where the FTP client is installed the WAN IP Address should match the IP Address in sub-menu 6.Network Settings (refer to Step 2).
    If a networking device (a router for example) is used, then DB8000 WAN IP Address should match the routers IP Address.
    The other two parameters that should be specified are Command and Data ports.
    NOTES: The FTP server can manage only one connection at a time. The FTP Client as the FTP Server should be in passive mode.

    3. FTP Client (FileZilla) Settings
    In some cases, FileZilla's "Quick connect" feature is not able to connect with DB8000. That is why we recommend the device to be assigned in the program manually.
    Enter the FTP Client and go to: File > Site manager > New Site. A dialog box requiring obligatory information about the device will appear. Fill in the needed information and press "OK".
